Kazuki Homma
CONTRAST is pleased to present "Visual Temperature," the first solo exhibition by video artist Kazuki Homma, on view from July 25 (Sat) to August 2 (Sun). The exhibition features a series of new installations centered around CRT televisions, exploring the "temperature" and “physical presence” of moving images. Today, we experience most moving images through smartphones and flat display panels. Yet standing in front of a CRT television evokes something distinctly different—the subtle warmth it emits, the flickering noise, and the unstable glow of its screen. More than simple nostalgia, these qualities give the image a tangible sense of presence, as though it physically exists within the space. Through a collection of installations incorporating CRT televisions, LaserDiscs, VHS tapes, and other obsolete analog media, Visual Temperature examines themes of recording and playback, preservation and deterioration, noise and light, revealing moving images not merely as something to watch, but as something that occupies and transforms physical space. During the exhibition, CONTRAST will also host “REALiS," a special two-night live series by the experimental sound project HARDCORE AMBIENCE. Homma's installations will intersect with electronic sound, field recordings, guitar performance, and improvisation, transforming the exhibition space itself into a live audiovisual environment. ー Date: 7/25 (Sat) - 8/2 (Sun) Tue - Fri: 14:00 - 19:00 Sat - Sun: 12:00 - 19:00 Closed: Monday Entrance: Free Venue: CONTRAST ー Special Event | HARDCORE AMBIENCE Date & Time: 7/31(Fri) 19:00 - 20:30 Featuring: Mitsuhisa Sakaguchi, Eisuke Yanagisawa, Koji Nakamura Date & Time: 8/1 (Sat) 18:00 - 20:15 Featuring: Masahiro Tobita, Nathiho Toyota, Koji Nakamura Entrance: Free Venue: CONTRAST ー Support: DEAD STOCK NEON STUDIO / YONE, Takaya Iwasaki
